Melissa Newman, DMD, MAGD

Melissa Newman, DMD, MAGD, grew up in Burnt Hills, New York, where her interest in dentistry began. She spent many years working as a dental hygienist before pursuing her dental degree, providing her with a unique perspective on patient care and the dental profession. Dr. Melissa earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2008. While at Tufts she was the class representative for the Ethics and Professionalism committee, receiving the Pauline Fuller Persons Scholarship in 2007, and The Altshuler Family Prize for ethics in 2008.

Following graduation, Dr. Melissa owned and operated a successful private dental practice, where she developed a reputation for providing compassionate, high-quality care and building lasting relationships with her patients. Her commitment to lifelong learning and clinical excellence led her to earn the prestigious Mastership Award from the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD), an achievement attained by only a small percentage of general dentists. During the rigorous five-year journey toward earning her MAGD, Dr. Melissa met Dr. Jana. As they progressed through the program together, they discovered a shared appreciation for ethical practice, clinical excellence, and a patient-centered approach to care.

With more than 18 years of clinical experience, Dr. Melissa believes that every patient deserves to be informed, empowered, and actively involved in decisions regarding their oral health. Her goal is to build lasting relationships with patients while helping them achieve healthy, confident smiles through personalized treatment tailored to their individual needs and goals.

Today, Dr. Newman continues to practice dentistry at Londonderry Family Dentistry while also serving as a Clinical instructor and the Qureshi Endowed Professor in Forensic Dentistry at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She believes that education is most effective when students are empowered to apply knowledge through hands-on experiences, mentorship, and real-world problem solving. Her passion for teaching reflects her commitment to developing the next generation of dental professionals while continually advancing her own knowledge and skills.

Dr. Melissa resides in southern New Hampshire with her husband, Dave, and their Shetland Sheepdogs. Outside of the office Dr Melissa serves as a volunteer forensic dentist for the state of NH.
